An elderly man suffered severe burns after a fire broke out at his home in Minehead, Somerset, yesterday afternoon.
Two fire engines from Minehead were alerted to the blaze, which had started in a ground floor bedroom of a house in Staunton Road, shortly before 3.30pm.
Firefighters rescued the elderly man from the house and provided first aid until an ambulance arrived.
Two officers wearing breathing sets used a jet to douse the flames. A thermal imaging camera was then used to check the fire had not spread. The man's condition was not known last night.
