Justin Pipe to meet Mark Walsh in 2013 Ladbrokes World Darts Championship

Justin Pipe will play Mark Walsh in the second round of the 2013 Ladbrokes World Darts Championship on Sunday afternoon. Former UK Open runner-up Walsh beat Darren Webster 3-1 in his first round tie at London's Alexandra Palace last night, and will now play Somerset's Pipe for a place in the last 16. Pipe, from North Curry near Taunton, beat Andy Jenkins 3-0 on Wednesday evening after winning six legs in succession to sweep the first two sets. Walsh made a similar start 24 hours later, taking six of the first seven legs against Webster. "I'm pretty pleased with my performance, considering it's the first round of the biggest tournament in the game," said Walsh. "My finishing was pretty good and I was happy with my scoring in the first two sets. "I dipped off in the third set and let him back into the game a bit, so I'm glad I closed it off at the end and I'm happy with how it went. "Justin will be tough opponent in the next round. He's been very impressive over the last couple years, so I know that I'm in for a hard game." Pipe, meanwhile, has vowed to work on his concentration after easing off in his third set against Jenkins. "I lost focus," said Pipe afterwards. "My concentration just totally went. "It's only my second year on tv and I've got to learn to deal with situations like that. I nearly let it slip against Brendan (Dolan) in Minehead and I nearly did it again tonight. "I've really got to work on my mental fitness." The second round gets under way with this afternoon's session at the Ally Pally, kicked off by a match between Andy Hamilton and Richie Burnett. Gary Anderson, from Burnham-on-Sea, takes on preliminary round qualifier John Bowles at 3.20pm this afternoon.
